Change your resume's template and layout

The edit design tab changes how a resume looks without touching a word of it. Open a resume from Resume in the sidebar and select edit design; a yellow warning icon on that tab means the page has already run over.

Fit it on one page

An amber banner in Layout Formatting reads "Current length of your resume is longer than 1 page", and the download dialog repeats the warning before it exports.

1. Open Layout Formatting and press the Small preset. That alone pulls most resumes back onto a single page.
2. If it still spills, press Custom for six sliders: Name Size, Content Margin, Section Margin, Font Size, Margin Vertical and Margin Horizontal. Margins give up space faster than font size does, and the preview redraws as you drag.
3. When the sliders run out, cut content on the edit content tab. The eye icon on a section takes it off the page and keeps it in the editor: Edit your resume.

The Font picker sits at the top of the same accordion. Chinese fonts are large and the first load takes a moment, so a preview that sits blank for a few seconds after you pick one is still working.

Templates, and the missing photo

1. Open Templates. Three thumbnails show, with the current one outlined in blue.
2. Press View all templates for the full eight: Classic (Recommended), Classic Photo, Stylish Blue, Stylish Blue Photo, Stylish Red, Stylish Red Photo, Chinese 1 and Chinese 2.
3. Click one to apply it. The preview redraws and your writing stays as it was, so trying a few costs you nothing.

Only the photo templates and the two Chinese templates carry your picture, the one from the Image field under Personal Information. Move from Classic Photo to Classic and the picture leaves the page while the field keeps it. Font, size and margins belong to the resume rather than the template, so they survive a switch.

Resume Language

The Resume Language accordion "controls the language of the pre-set fields and headings of the current resume", meaning the fixed labels rather than your own writing. Pick English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French, German or Spanish.

The setting belongs to this one resume and has nothing to do with the language the app itself is shown in, so you can keep one resume in English and the next in French.
