Profile and resumes

Edit your resume

Rewrite the content of a resume: sections, entries, bullet points and AI rewrites. Plus why there is no save button and where work goes.

The edit content tab is where you change what a resume says. Fonts, templates and margins live on the other tab: Change your resume's template and layout.

There is no save button, and nothing to press before you close the tab. FirstResume stores what you typed about a second after you stop, and the preview on the right redraws to match.

Open it

  1. Open Resume in the sidebar and click a resume's file name. (Build a resume if you have none.)
  2. Controls fill the left half of the editor, a live preview of the page the right. Select edit content.
  3. To rename the file, click the pencil beside the name at the top left. Downloads take that name, so a recruiter reads it.

The resume editor: accordions on the left, a live preview on the right.

Editing is desktop work. A phone shows the resume and asks you to switch machines.

Sections and entries

Personal Information holds Last Name, First Name, Other Name, Email, Phone Number and Linkedin, plus an Image field on templates that show a photo. Professional Summary is a text box with a Generate button that hands the rewrite to AI.

Below those sits each section of the resume. The drag handle on a section moves it up or down the page, the heading is click-to-edit, and the expander opens its entries. Every entry carries a title, Sub Title, Supplement Info, Location, Start Date and End Date (the picker offers Present for a current role), and a list of Bullet Points you can drag into order. Add bullet point adds a line, Add Information adds an entry, Delete entry removes one, and Add Section at the foot of the tab creates a New Section holding a New Item, both waiting to be renamed.

The last accordion, Skills, Language and Interests, keeps four lists: Add Skill, Add Certification, Add Language, Add Interest.

The eye hides, the trash deletes

Each section has both icons. The eye keeps the section in the editor and leaves it out of the PDF, so you can drop your interests for one employer and bring them back for the next. The trash takes it out of the editor for good. Professional Summary has an eye of its own.

A yellow warning icon on the edit design tab means the resume has run past one page.

Have AI rewrite a line

Click a bullet point and press Regenerate to open Regenerate Bullet Point. The box asking what you dislike about the line is optional, though a note such as "too vague about the result" gets a better rewrite than an empty one.

For a whole entry, press the wand for AI Tailor Entry and say what it should emphasise, "Emphasise team leadership and quantifiable results" for instance. Generate stays inactive until you type something. "Entry updated" confirms the swap.

Starter (free) accounts see a counter, "N regenerations remaining", and a Get Unlimited link; see pricing.
