Edit your profile
Add a job, a skill or a qualification to your profile, and find the blank row that stops Save Changes from going through without a word.
Everything FirstResume writes for you starts from the profile, so it earns ten minutes when you join and a minute whenever your situation changes.
Switch to edit mode
- Open Profile in the sidebar. The page opens on My Profile, read-only.
- Press the black Edit button at the bottom right. It becomes Cancel and Save Changes, and Update from CV appears at the bottom left.
If you have a CV to hand, Update your profile from a CV fills most of the page in, and you come back here to correct it.
Fill in the cards
Basic Information takes your photo (JPG, PNG or GIF, with a crop step) and First Name, Last Name, Current Title, Current Location, Email, Phone and LinkedIn. Industry is a row of pills: + Add Industry adds one, the × on a pill removes it. Professional Summary holds a few lines about you and Years of Experience.
The history cards each have their own add button: + Add Experience (Title, Company, Start Date, End Date, Location, Details), + Add Education (Degree, Institution, then the same dates and details), + Add Project (Title, dates, Location, Details), + Add Certification, + Add Skill and + Add Language. Entries collapse once you close them. To drop one, open it and press the red Remove.
Entries stay in the order you added them and there is no drag handle on the profile, so add roles in the order you want to read them back. Pressing Enter does nothing in most fields; in the Skills boxes it opens another row, which makes a long list quick to type.
When Save Changes does nothing
Save Changes sends the whole profile at once and you get "Profile updated successfully". A press that seems to go nowhere points to a half-added row, an + Add Experience row you opened and left blank being the common one. Every experience entry needs a Title and a Company, every education entry an Institution and a Degree, every project a Title, and every skill, language and certification some text. Your email address has to be a valid one. Fill the row in or press Remove on it, then save again.
Cancel throws away everything you have done since pressing Edit.
Two things that save on their own
Your photo uploads and saves as soon as you crop it, with its own "Profile picture updated successfully".
Skill details save from their dialog. Click a skill pill in read mode to open "Describe your experience with X (Optional)", which asks where you used the skill, what you did with it, and any measurable metrics. Press Save there and it is stored, whatever happens to Save Changes afterwards. Pills that carry details turn solid black.
