Upgrade to Premium
Pick Premium or Max, choose a billing period, start your 7-day free trial and pay through Stripe.
By the end of this guide you will be on Premium or Max, either on a 7-day free trial or paid up for the period you chose. Do this when you reach the Starter limits or want Company Research, Out Reach or the AI Mock Interview.
Before you start
- Prices and periods are on the pricing page. The app shows the same amounts when you pick a plan.
- If your account came through your university, read Get Premium through your university instead. Your seat comes from them.
Choose a plan and pay
- Press Upgrade to Premium at the bottom of the sidebar. Or open Settings, go to Subscription and press Upgrade.
- A full-screen page opens headed "100x your job hunt with Premium" with three cards: Starter ("For trying out FirstResume. No credit card needed."), Premium with a Popular ribbon ("Everything you need to run a serious job hunt.") and Max ("Unlimited power, plus interview prep and coaching.").
- Choose a billing period with the Monthly, Quarterly or Yearly tabs. Longer periods show a green -{percent}% badge, and each card says "Billed {amount} per {unit}".
- Compare the six bullets on each card: Active applications, AI resume tailors / month, Application kits / month, Job searches / month, Jobs per search and AI regenerations / month. Premium and Max differ here, not in features.
- If you have never subscribed before, the buttons on Premium and Max read Start free trial, and a banner above the cards reads Limited time free trial: "Pay nothing today. Billing begins after your 7-day free trial. Cancel anytime." Press the one you want. Otherwise the button reads Choose {plan} or Upgrade.
- You are taken to Stripe Checkout to enter your card details.
- When Stripe returns you to FirstResume you see Payment Successful and "Your payment was processed successfully!" Press Go Home. If you backed out, you see Payment Cancelled and "Your payment did not go through"; press Go Home and nothing has changed.
If you already pay
Moving up while you are already subscribed does not go through Stripe Checkout again.
- Open the plan picker and press Upgrade on the card you want. A dialog headed "Confirm Upgrade: {plan}" says "You'll be charged {amount} now, and your new billing period starts today."
- Press Confirm & Pay {amount}, or Cancel to leave things as they are. A toast confirms "Your subscription has been upgraded."
If you are still on your free trial the dialog reads differently: "You're on a free trial, so there's no charge now. Your trial continues until {date}, then you'll be billed {amount} for {plan}." Press Confirm upgrade.
What you'll see next
Upgrade to Premium disappears from the sidebar and your plan pill changes. On Subscription, your Current Plan shows Free trial or Active, with a Next renewal row or "Your first charge after the trial ends." The Credit Balance pills update straight away.
Tips
- The free trial is offered once per account. Cancelling during it ends it immediately; see Change or cancel your plan.
- Not sure between Premium and Max? Start with Premium. You can move up later from the same picker.
- Every invoice appears under Billing History with a View link, so you do not need to keep the Stripe email.
