  • What your careers team can see

If your careers team has bought FirstResume seats, you sign up through your university rather than on your own, and Premium comes from their contract instead of a card.

Sign up with the address they whitelisted

Your university put a list of student email addresses on its whitelist. Use the address they told you to use, character for character. Another address of yours will not be recognised on this route.

  1. Open https://app.firstresume.ai and go to the sign-up page.
  2. Under "Part of a university or organization?", press Continue with your institution.

Part of a university or organization?

Continue with your institution

By continuing, you agree to FirstResume's Terms of Service and acknowledge you've read our Privacy Policy.

Create an account: the institution button sits below the email and Google options.
  1. Pick your university under Select your organization and press Continue.
  2. Fill in the email and password form and press Sign Up. This route carries no Google button, so a Google account you use elsewhere will not get you in.
  3. Click the verification link FirstResume emails you, then work through onboarding as anyone else would. See Build your profile from your CV.

Signing in later takes the same path: Continue with your institution, your university, then your email and password.

Activate account, or Request Upgrade

Where a personal account shows Upgrade to Premium at the bottom of the sidebar, yours shows one of two buttons.

Activate account means a seat is already set aside for you. Press it, then press Activate account in the dialog; "Your account is now activated" confirms it. If the seat has not started yet, the dialog gives the start date and there is nothing to do until then.

Request Upgrade means nobody has assigned you a seat. Press it, leave a message for your administrator if you want to, and press Send. You can have one request open at a time; until someone reviews it the dialog reads Request Sent.

Until a seat is yours you are on Starter, with the same 10-application cap as any free account. Refer & Earn and promotional offers do not appear on university accounts. Premium through your university has the full flow.

What your careers team can see

Their portal opens your profile, job preferences, applications, job history and the resume you have marked Primary. They cannot edit any of it, and they see none of it while you are on Starter; the access follows the paid seat.

Choose your Primary resume with that in mind. The app's own note reads "This is the resume primarily accessed by your school's administrator." See What a primary resume is.

If your university posts jobs of its own, they appear on the Jobs board under Job Source. When the contract period ends your account drops back to Starter, so ask about renewal before the end date.
