What happens after you add a job
Job summary and compatibility run on their own. The resume is yours to start, and cover letter, outreach and interview prep wait until it exists.
Add a job and FirstResume fills the first tabs by itself, then stops. The rest waits for a resume from you, and three tabs stay shut until it exists.
Adding the job
Paste the text of a posting into New Application and press Add Job, or press Add to Applications under a listing on the Jobs board. A link will not work; FirstResume needs the words of the advert.
You land on My Applications and the new entry shows a shimmering "PROCESSING..." pill for about a minute while the work carries on in the background. Paste more adverts meanwhile; they queue.
What runs without you
Job Summary arrives first: the posting broken into Job Title, Company Name, Application Deadline, Key Responsibilities, Key Requirements and the skills it extracted. Press Edit to correct anything the AI misread, and View original full job description to reread the advert.
Compatibility follows in the background. The score shimmers until the analysis lands, then you get a number out of 100, Skill Match, Experience Match and Education & Qualifications Match, and lists of strengths, gaps and recommended actions.
Research also runs on its own, on Premium, and only when the advert names a company. On Starter the tab shows a blurred preview.
What you start
Resume is the gate. Open the tab, pick From existing resume or Create a new resume and press Next. Tailoring copies the resume you choose; the original file stays as it was. Generation takes 30 to 60 seconds.
Until this application has its own resume, Cover Letter, Out Reach and Interview read "You need a resume first!" with a Go to resume button.
With a resume attached, any of those three offers Prepare the application kit. Tick Include company research if you want the letter and emails to use it, press Generate, and all three tabs fill together. Starter meters these; the card shows how many kits are left.
Two things called progress
The small ring on each row in My Applications fills in thirds on its own: job summary, resume, application kit.
The Progress button inside an application does something else. It opens the Action Checklist, recommended actions for the status the job is in, which you tick off yourself. The percentage is the share you have ticked, and changing the status swaps in the checklist for the next stage. Use the action checklist goes further.
