Getting started

Build your profile from your CV

Answer four short questions, upload a PDF or DOCX CV, and wait about a minute while FirstResume reads it and writes your profile from it.

Onboarding runs once, the first time you sign in, and ends with a profile filled in from a CV you already have. Every resume and application FirstResume writes later draws on that profile.

Answer the four questions

Press Get Started on the Welcome to FirstResume! card.

Welcome to FirstResume!

Job applications are hard, and we are here to help.
FirstResume uses AI to help you identify suitable career paths, search for opportunities, and tailor every job application and more to maximise your chances of success.

Get Started
The Welcome to FirstResume card that opens after your first sign-in, with Get Started beneath the introduction.

Get Started with FirstResume asks four things, and all four are required. Each dropdown reads "Choose an option" until you pick: your current employment status, your highest level of education, how many years of experience you have, and how you heard about FirstResume. Under them sits a toggle for personalised job recommendations, off unless you switch it on. Press Get Started.

Upload your CV

The next screen asks "DO YOU HAVE AN EXISTING RESUME?" and offers Yes, I do (Upload resume) or No, I don't (Create for me). Skipping the upload leaves some features unavailable, so upload one if you have one.

  1. Press Yes, I do (Upload resume).
  2. Drop your file onto "Choose a file or drop it here", or click the box to pick one. PDF and DOCX only; anything else triggers the alert "Only PDF and DOCX files are accepted." The name appears after "Selected file:", with Remove selected file if you grabbed the wrong one.
  3. Press Upload.

Onboarding

Upload your existing resume.

We will import your resume into FirstResume and create your profile automatically so you can start using our tools right away.

Data privacy is the top priority at FirstResume. Your resume will never be shared with third parties.

Upload
Upload your existing resume: drop a PDF or DOCX onto the box, then press Upload.

The card turns into "Sit tight, We are initialising your account!" and stays that way for about a minute while FirstResume reads the CV and writes your profile. Leave it running; it ends with "Profile updated from CV successfully".

No, I don't (Create for me) builds an empty resume and opens the resume editor instead, or sends you to Jobs on a phone. Your profile starts blank and you type it in yourself.

Check what the import brought over

Onboarding does not come back once your profile exists. Open Profile in the sidebar and read through Experience, Education and Skills, fixing anything the import got wrong. The page opens read-only, so press Edit first and Save Changes at the end. Update from CV re-imports a newer file whenever you need it. Edit your profile covers the sections one by one.

Fill in the Job Preferences tab while you are there. It seeds the default filters on the Jobs board.

Then go to Make your first application.
