Check and fix the job summary
Check the company name, skills and deadline FirstResume pulled out of the advert, and fix them before the rest of your application uses them.
Everything else in an application reads from the Job Summary tab: the compatibility score, the tailored resume, the cover letter, the outreach emails, the interview questions. Two minutes here saves you correcting one mistake in five places.
Check these four
Company Name. The cover letter and the outreach emails address the employer by this name, and company research looks it up.
Hard Skills, Soft Skills and Other Keywords, near the bottom. Your compatibility score is measured against this list, and tailoring offers you the same list to add to your resume. A skill the advert asked for and the AI missed costs you twice.
Application Deadline. The checklist at the Saved stage asks you to confirm it, and the advert is the only place it exists.
Job Summary, the paragraph itself. If it describes some other job, press View original full job description and compare it against the text you pasted.
Fields the advert never mentioned show a dash, and a job added without a link shows "Not Specified".
Fix a field
- Press the Edit pill at the bottom right of the tab.
- Change whatever is wrong. Add a missing skill, correct the company, type in the deadline.
- Press Save Changes, or Cancel to drop the lot.
Editing works on a desktop browser only. On a phone you can read the summary and nothing more.
How far a correction reaches
A fix here feeds the work you have not done yet. Correct the skills before you open Compatibility or start tailoring and both use the better list. Correct them afterwards and you are regenerating things you have already read through.
On Premium, Industry may sit at "Researching industry…" for a minute while company research runs in the background.
Tips
- View original full job description opens the text you pasted, so you never have to go back to the job site.
- If a section of the compatibility analysis looks wrong, come back here before you argue with the score.
- Correcting Company Name does not rescue company research on an advert that never named the employer: Research the company.
