Understand your compatibility score

Where your score out of 100 comes from, why an honest one is more use than a high one, and how ticking the skills you have changes it.

The Compatibility tab scores your resume against this job out of 100 and shows its working. Read it before you tailor, so you know what to push, and again afterwards to see what moved.

While it is still working

The score is built in the background after you add the job. Until it lands the tab reads "Sit tight, we are generating your compatibility analysis!" and gives itself about a minute. The same number turns up in the Compatibility column of My Applications, green from 80, orange from 60, red below that.

The gauge at the top of the tab carries the overall number, the band it falls in, and a short summary of the fit: Great Match above 80, Good Match above 70, Fair Match above 50, Needs Work at 50 or under.

Strong match

Your analytics work lines up with the role's core requirements. Two keywords from the posting are missing from your resume. Adding the ones you can evidence would lift this score.

Keywords from the job description

Matched terms are already evidenced in your resume.

Hard skills

Soft skills

Requirement by requirement

Years of experience

Two internships plus a society leadership role covers the 0–2 years the posting asks for.

Met

Core analytics stack

SQL and Python appear across both roles, with dashboards shipped weekly.

Strong

Experimentation

A/B testing shows up once. Worth expanding with the pricing page result.

Moderate
Gap: the posting names Looker and dbt. Add them only if you have genuinely used them.
The Compatibility tab: the overall score, the matched skills, and the scored requirements.

Where the number comes from

It is the average of three matches. Skill Match is the share of the job's listed skills you have ticked, across Hard Skills, Soft Skills and Other Keywords. Experience Match covers Years of Experience, Seniority, Industry Experience and Role Experience. Education & Qualifications Match covers Degree Level & Field of Study and Certifications.

Rows in the last two carry a badge: Strong, Met, Moderate, Weak or Not Required. Strong is worth the most and Weak the least. A Not Required row drops out of the average, so a requirement that does not apply to you cannot pull your score down.

The skills are yours to correct

The AI ticked what it thought your resume showed, and it guesses. Under the hint "Select skills you have and add details about your experience. Click a selected skill to remove it.", click a ticked skill to drop it and an unticked one to claim it. The score recalculates as you click and saves itself a second later.

Untick anything you could not hold up for two minutes under questioning. The number falls, and what you are looking at then is the real gap, the same gap tailoring will work from. A score propped up by skills you do not have walks you into an interview you cannot answer.

Read Key Gaps

Key Strengths, Key Gaps and Recommended Actions sit under the matches. Key Gaps earns most of your attention: it names what you do not yet meet, which is what to emphasise when you tailor your resume and what to have an answer ready for.

Tips

  • A low score is information. People get hired into roles they half match.
  • If a whole section reads wrong, check the job summary. The score is only as good as what came out of the advert.
  • Come back after tailoring. Gaps that have not moved are the ones your history does not cover yet.
