Add a job to your applications
Paste the text of a job advert and FirstResume builds a tracked application from it, with the posting in fields and a compatibility score.
Paste an advert and you end up with a tracked job on My Applications, the posting broken into fields and a compatibility score on its way.
Before you start
You need a profile. If yours is empty, the app asks you to upload a resume or start from scratch before it will take a job. You also need the advert itself: copy the words off the page, because pasting the link to a posting does nothing.
Paste the advert
- Press New Application in the sidebar, or the black New Application button at the top of My Applications.
- Paste the whole advert into the box marked "Paste the text of the job description". Title, company, responsibilities, requirements. The summary, the score and the tailoring all read from what you paste, so leave the dull parts in.
- Press Add Job. The button stays greyed out until the box has text in it.
The page jumps and nothing appears
The app sends you to My Applications the moment you press Add Job, then builds the application in the background. A toast reads "Adding 1 application…" and a new row appears with a shimmering PROCESSING... pill. Press the pill and it tells you the same thing: around a minute.
When it lands you see "Your new application is ready on My Application page" and the row fills in with the title, company and location. The compatibility score shimmers for a while after that and arrives on its own.
Queue as many as you like. Go back to New Application and paste the next advert while the first one is still working.
A job that fails shows "Oops!" with Cancel and Retry. Retrying does not cost you a second credit.
From the Jobs board instead
Open Jobs, pick a listing, and press Add to Applications in the bar headed "Start preparing your application". The button changes to Added, and you can still read the original posting from the application afterwards.
Tips
- Open the finished application and read the Job Summary tab first: Check and fix the job summary.
- Starter (free) tracks ten applications; Premium and Max have no limit. See pricing.
- Every job starts at the status Saved. Move it along as you go: Track your applications.
