Run an AI mock interview

A mock interview runs in one sitting: you pick the questions, answer them out loud on camera, and finish with a scored report on the run and on each answer.

Before you start

The AI mock interview is Premium. See Understand your plan and credits.

The session offers the questions on that application's Interview tab and nothing else, so add anything you want to rehearse first. See Prepare with the Interview tab.

Use a desktop computer with a camera and microphone, in a current Chrome or Edge. There is no mobile version and no typed mode.

Set up the session

1. Open the application, press the Interview tab, then the black AI Mock Interview pill marked (Beta).
2. Read the Instructions on the welcome screen and press Next.
3. Every question from the tab is listed and ticked under "Select the questions you want to practice". Untick what you do not want, then press Next.
4. On Test your device, allow camera and microphone when your browser asks. If a line reads "Camera unavailable — check your browser permissions", fix it in your browser and press Restart device.
5. Press Begin, which stays disabled until camera and microphone are both granted.

Answer the questions

Take as long as you like before each question. The Cheat sheet on the right carries its Explanation, Key Touch Points and Sample Response; press Generate under "Need some help?" if it is blank.

Press Begin for a five-second countdown, then the interviewer reads the question aloud and the chip turns to Recording. Your words appear in the transcript as you speak, under a clock counting to 02:00.

Two minutes is a hard cap and goes faster than it reads, so open with your point and add one example. At 02:00 your answer saves itself and you see "Time limit reached (2 min) — your answer was saved." Press Done Answering to stop sooner, Retry to record it again, then Next question. The last question offers View report instead.

Skip question throws away whatever you recorded for that question, and it never appears in your report. End interview takes you to the report with the answers you have so far. Nothing pauses a session, so silence your phone first.

Read your report

"Analysing your performance" holds the screen for a minute or two; leave the window alone until the report loads. If it fails, you get "We couldn't generate your performance report." and Try again.

The report opens on Overall, with a tab per answered question. A score ring sits under a rating of Very good, Good, Fair or Needs work, with a written summary. Three smaller rings split that score into Content, what you said; Delivery, how you said it; and Language quality, your words and grammar. Below them sit your total duration, average speaking pace in words per minute and average filler word density. Then comes Breakdown, one row per question; the lowest row is the answer to rewrite.

Each Q tab rates that answer alone: Content as Relevance, Structure, Specificity and Content quality / Correctness, each marked Strong, Adequate or Weak; Delivery as a pace meter flagging Too slow or Too fast and a filler-word percentage; Language quality as grammar corrections in before-and-after pairs, plus Vocabulary. Your recording and transcript sit in the sidebar. Read Key points against what you said; a point you missed is quicker to fix than a delivery habit.

Run it again

Every run is stored under Practice history.

1. Open the application, press the Interview tab, then Practice history beside AI Mock Interview.
2. Each row gives the date and time, the questions covered, the length, the score ring, and an Incomplete tag if you ended that run early. An incomplete run still has a report of the questions you reached.
3. Press View report to reopen one, or delete an attempt.

To go again, close the report with the X and press AI Mock Interview. Setup starts from the beginning, so untick the questions you already answer well and rerun the rest.
