The letter arrives with the application kit, already carrying your name, contact details and the date. What is left is making it sound like a person wrote it.

Rework the wording

  1. Open the application and select the Cover Letter tab. It opens on Edit content.
  2. Check Basic Information: First name, Last Name, Other Name, Email, Date, Phone Number and Address. These print at the top of the letter.
  3. Edit the body under Content. It is a rich text box, so rework a paragraph, cut a claim you cannot back up, or add the sentence about why this employer.
  4. Press the pencil beside the title to rename the file. It starts as the job title followed by your name.

Your typing saves about a second after you stop. There is no save button.

Dear Hiring Team,

I am writing to apply for the Graduate Data Analyst role at Nimbus Analytics. I am completing a BSc (Hons) in Statistics at the National University of Singapore, and my internship at Helix Studio was spent doing the work your posting describes: turning product data into decisions a team can act on.

At Helix Studio I built the weekly dashboards tracking activation and retention for three product squads, and automated a manual reporting flow in Python that gave the team back six hours a week.

My cohort analysis of trial users fed directly into the pricing page redesign.

Nimbus Analytics works with clients who need a clear answer rather than a dense report, and that is the part of analytics I enjoy most. I would welcome the chance to bring that care to your graduate programme.

Yours sincerely,

Alex Tan

The Cover Letter tab: the editor on the left, the letter preview on the right.

There is no tone setting

You steer the letter through Regenerate, at the bottom of Content. The Regenerate Cover Letter dialog asks you to "let our AI know what you don't like in the resume and how you'd prefer it to be", and the prompt box is where tone, length and emphasis get decided. Be blunt with it: half the length, less formal, open with the placement rather than the degree. Tick Include company research to pull in the facts from the Research tab.

On Starter you see how many regenerations remain, with Get Unlimited beside it. See pricing.

Make it match your resume

Edit design holds Template, one layout for now under "More templates coming soon", and Format: Line Spacing, Vertical Margin, Horizontal Margin, Name Size, Font and Font Size, with the presets Small, Regular, Large and Custom. Set the font and size to whatever your resume uses so the two documents arrive looking like a pair. The Preview on the right, zoom controls and all, is exactly what downloads.

Download it

Press Download at the top of the editor. Read the company name and the date in the preview before you do.

Tips

  • Regenerate first, hand-edit second. Polishing a paragraph you are about to replace wastes the work.
  • Say what you want in the prompt rather than around it. "Shorter, and lead with the internship" beats "make it better".
  • Read the finished letter aloud once. Anything you would not say in an interview comes out.
