Tailor or create a resume for a job

The Resume tab of an application opens on "How would you like to get started?" with two cards. Both routes end the same way, with a resume attached to this job, and that attachment is what opens the Cover Letter, Out Reach and Interview tabs.

Choose a starting point

Open the application, select the Resume tab, pick a card and press Next. Take From existing resume when something in your library is close to this role, and Create a new resume when nothing is, or when you have never written one.

Fix the skills on the Job Summary tab before either route, because the tailoring flow offers you that list: Check and fix the job summary.

Tailor an existing resume

1. On Select base resume, open Select a resume. Your primary sits at the top, then the newest first, and whatever you pick previews on the right.
2. Choose Tailor with AI to have the content rewritten for this advert, or Use Directly to attach the resume as it stands and edit it by hand.
3. On Select skills, tick the skills pulled from the advert that you could talk about for two minutes under questioning.
4. Open a skill to answer "Where or in what project did you apply this skill?", "What exactly did you do with this skill?" and "Any measurable metrics?", then press Save. That detail is what turns a generic bullet point into one that sounds like you. + Add custom skill covers anything the advert missed.

The line "* A copy of the resume will be created, the original file will not be affected" means what it says. The resume you picked stays in your library, and the copy belongs to this job.

Review the AI edits

1. Answer anything on Additional questions. Often there is nothing to answer.
2. Press Generate resume. It reads "Working on it ..." for 30 to 60 seconds and you can leave the tab.
3. Review AI edit suggestions gives you one card per change. Open "Why this change?" for the reasoning, then press Accept or Decline. Accept all takes the lot, Skip To Manual Edit drops you into the editor.
4. Press Finalize when the counter reaches zero.

Decline anything that claims work you did not do. The AI writes towards the advert and it overreaches.

Build a new resume

Under "Let's start fresh", Create resume from scratch hands you an empty resume and an editor with AI help on individual bullet points and entries. Generate a sample template has the AI draft one aimed at this role. Every line of that draft is invented, the experience included, so treat it as a form to fill in rather than a document to send.

Either route lands you in the editor, content and design on the left, the PDF as it will download on the right, saving about a second after you stop typing: Build and edit a resume.

Tips

• The copy turns up in your library with this job in the Tailored For column.
• Keep it to one page. An amber warning appears on edit design once you run over, and the Small preset pulls a page and a bit back into one.
