Create a resume for this job

When nothing in your library fits, start the resume from inside the application. The job goes nowhere without one: the Cover Letter, Out Reach and Interview tabs stay locked until a resume is attached to this application, and a resume sitting in your library does not count.

Start it

1. Open the application and select the Resume tab.
2. Under "Preparing your resume", choose the card Create a new resume, then press Next.
3. On "Let's start fresh", pick one of the two cards and press Next. It reads "Processing…" while it works.

Create resume from scratch hands you an empty resume and an editor with AI help on individual bullet points and entries. Take this when you know what belongs on the page and want to type it.

Generate a sample template has the AI draft one aimed at this role. Take this when you have never seen a resume for this kind of job and want the shape of one. Every line of it is invented, including the experience, so treat it as a form to fill in rather than a document to send.

Fill it in

The resume opens in the editor: content and design on the left, the PDF as it will download on the right. There is no save button, and your typing saves about a second after you stop.

Work down Personal Information, Professional Summary, your experience and education sections, and Skills, Language and Interests. Sections and entries can be added, dragged into a different order, or hidden from the PDF with the eye icon. The full walkthrough is in Edit your resume.

Keep it to one page. An amber warning appears on edit design once you run over, and the Small preset under Layout Formatting pulls a page and a bit back into one.

Once the resume exists

The three locked tabs open and the progress ring on My Applications fills another third. Next: Generate your application kit.

What you built here is a normal resume. It appears in your library, you can set it as your primary, and you can tailor from it for the next job you add.

Tips

• Replace every invented line before you download anything, if you started from a sample template.
• Tailoring an existing resume is quicker and keeps your real history: Tailor your resume for a job.
• Write the bullet points with numbers in them. The compatibility score reads skills, but a human reads results.
